Owl boxes are installed in parks and forests not only to promote the diversity of species but also as a means of controlling the mouse population.

  

Box No. 4 for Tengmalm's Owl and Stock Dove



The front panel of the box can be removed for inspection and cleaning purposes. Birds can be encouraged to use the box if a thick layer of wood shavings or sawdust is spread over the recess in the floor.

Suitable for: Tengmalm's Owl, Stock Dove, Pygmy Owl and Hoopoe. Black, Green and Grey Woodpeckers will sometimes spend the night in these boxes too.

Stock Dove Drain Set for No. 4



The slatted floor allows the moisture produced mainly from the droppings of the stock dove to drain away. Stock Doves do not remove the droppings of their young and, depending on their numbers, this may result in a pile several centimeters in height. This Drain Set is therefore ideal for encouraging Stock Doves to breed.

Box No. 5 for Tawny Owl



As with Box No. 4, the front panel can be removed for inspection.

Here, too, the floor should be covered by a layer of sawdust or similar material.

Suitable for: Tawny Owl, Stock Dove, Jackdaw, and in some areas, Goosander and Goldeneye, too.
For the latter two species we can supply specially adapted nest boxes and special front panels for the No. 5 to attract Goldeneye and Goosander. Please let us know your requirements.

Replacement Protective Front Panel for Nos. 4 and 5

These wood-concrete front panels with a metal guard to deter martens can be ordered separately for Box Nos. 4 and 5 manufactured from 1980 onwards.

The layout of the holes in the wood-concrete front panels and the distances between them have to match to allow them to be connected to the metal protective panel. For this reason only complete replacement sets can be supplied.
